hi there 👋
I hope all is well.
Here is my recap for August, with links to the individual articles.

Heart rate variability (HRV) 🫀
On heart rate variability (HRV) and training guidance. One of the common mistakes you see when using HRV to generate advice is how “good HRV values” are often used to generate messages about going hard or doing more. This is not how physiology works, and especially for athletes, it makes little sense. Why? Find out here.
Podcasts 🎙️
R3ndurance podcast. I met Xavi Reche a few years ago when he invited me to give a talk about HRV at FC Barcelona. Xavi knows a lot about training and performance and has since then moved on to start his own cycling coaching business. Here is our 30-minute chat about HRV.
Ramblings 🤌
10 years of HRV4Training. 10 years ago I started building HRV4Training, coding the app, and blogging. We somehow managed to do things our way and still put food on the table for the past decade. Over this time period, more than 1 million people ended up on the blog. Many have been using our tools and have been in contact with us, leading to what will be lifelong relationships and friendships. I am truly grateful for the many opportunities this work has led to, especially in terms of human relationships. Here is a bit of our story. Thank you for your support.
Building 🛠️
New HRV4Training Pro: I have released the new HRV4Training Pro and have written various articles that can serve as an overview of the different features. You can find the user guide here. I hope you’ll like the new platform, and would like to thank you for your support.
Training talk 🏃🏻♂️🚴
Cross-training experiment: expectations, data, and learnings. In the past 6 weeks, I’ve mostly trained on the bike, while recovering from a running injury. It has been an interesting experiment. In this blog, I cover goals, expectations, changes in physiology, and learnings. I hope there is something useful for you too. Thank you for reading, and keep training.
Training log. As the name says, this is simply my training diary for the year.
Thank you again and see you next month!
